After picking up our valued guests from the designated locations in the morning, we start our journey to Bursa via the Osmangazi Bridge route. After a journey of about 1.5–2 hours, we will arrive in Bursa.
Bursa City Tour
Our first stop in Bursa, named after the city's founder, King Prusias I of Bithynia, is the area in the Tophane district where the tombs of Osman Gazi and Orhan Gazi are located. During our visit to the tombs of these two founding rulers, we'll also have the opportunity to take panoramic photos of Bursa. We will then visit the Grand Mosque of Bursa, notable for its interior calligraphy decorations, as well as the nearby Koza Han. Our next destination is on the other side of the city: the Green Mosque and Green Tomb. After examining these early examples of Ottoman religious architecture in detail, we'll visit the Irgandı Bridge, which somewhat resembles the Ponte Vecchio in Italy, and listen to its story.
Next up is one of today's most intriguing attractions—the Panorama 1326 Conquest Museum, built by Bursa Osmangazi Municipality. Although it looks similar to the Istanbul Conquest 1453 Museum, it features a beautiful depiction of how Bursa appeared during its conquest. After this, we’ll continue our tour at the Bursa City History Museum. Located in the old courthouse building and organized as a museum in 2004, this venue offers an ethnographic and historical look at the city’s past. During our visit, we’ll have the chance to closely observe folkloric features of both Bursa and Anatolia, marking the end of today’s tour. After settling into the hotel, we'll rest a bit before heading to dinner at 8:00 pm.
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we leave and set out for Mudanya. We will arrive in Mudanya after a journey of approximately 40 minutes.
Mudanya
We will visit the house where the Mudanya Armistice was signed, which began on October 3 at the request of the Allied Powers following the Great Offensive, and concluded on October 11, 1922. Turned into a museum in 1937 by the Mudanya Municipality, this museum house is an important witness to our history.
After Mudanya, our next destination will be a charming coastal town reached by a journey of about 20 minutes. In Trilye, our first stop will be for lunch. After lunch, we begin strolling through the streets of Trilye.
Trilye
In this seaside town officially known as Zeytinbağı and traditionally called Trilye, there is a Cami-i Şerif, one Islamic and two Christian primary schools, seven churches, and three monasteries classified as historical landmarks. We will see stunning architectural examples such as Fatih Mosque and its Bath with a Courtyard, Taş Mektep, Dündar House, The Arched Church, Perili House, the Dining Hall, and the Old Post Office building. On this beautiful trip through streets full of photo opportunities at every corner, we will take a break for some local shopping at the bazaar before heading to Gölyazı.
Gölyazı & Ulubat Lake
After a one-hour drive, while heading to Gölyazı among olive trees, we are greeted at the entrance by a restored windmill. With a breathtaking view of Gölyazı (Apolyont) and Lake Ulubat, we will learn about the region, then visit the Gölyazı Culture House next to the Church of St. Panteleimon, an important and unique example of Anatolian Greek Orthodox churches. We will walk to the village square to see the iconic Weeping Plane Tree and cross over to the peninsula. After seeing the historic Gölyazı Bath, now restored into a café, its mosque, the ancient city walls, the renovated Faik Bey Mansion, and the 250-year-old Greek houses, we will take a tea break in the village square.
After our tour of Gölyazı, we will reach Istanbul after a two-hour journey. Until we meet again in another BUKLATUR trip...
